Five For Friday!

It has been a BUSY week in first grade!  I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to tell you all about it!

We have been working our very own nonfiction text!  My kiddos were so excited to learn about penguins!  We read a variety of texts and gathered information.  Then the kids worked in groups to write about what they learned!  This writing activity really helped us learn some of the text features of a nonfiction text!

We created a title page and a table of contents.

Each child contributed one page about penguins.  They read their writing and highlighted important words in the text.

They worked together to write definitions for the important words in text.

More nonfiction writing coming soon!

Do you want a copy of the non-fiction writing that we did?  You can get it HERE!

My kiddos created leprechaun traps as an at home project.  Everyone shared their trap, explaining what materials they used, how it was made, and how it works.  We set our traps before we went home.  We are hoping to catch a leprechaun!

Speaking of leprechauns......

We are planning a day of fun in first grade!

You can can get this pack HERE!

I am thinking spring thoughts!

Happy Friday, Friends!
