On Your Mark, Get Set, SHOP!

Have you been busy filling your TpT cart?  The BIG Cyber Sale starts TOMORROW!

My firsties are always working on reading sight words accurately and fluently.  To help them with this, I have created a homework activity called On Your Mark, Get Set Read!  It's really easy:  parents time their child reading words on the chart.  The kids repeat this three times a day for three days and record their best time each day!  Easy and FUN!

There are five levels to choose from:

Dolch Words:  Pre-Primer Edition

Dolch Words:  Primer Edition

Dolch Words:  First Grade Edition

Dolch Words:  Second Grade Edition

Dolch Words:  Third Grade Edition

Here's a sneak peek (Click the image to see the product in my TpT store.)

Blame It On Summer!

I have been M.I.A. I blame it on summer vacation! Why is it so difficult to stick to a schedule when you have the summer off?

Well, I have been somewhat busy. I did have time to create a new alphabet for my classroom. My other alphabet was O-L-D and I needed a change! Here is what I created:

I liked it so much that I made it in colorful chevron, too!

They are now available in my TpT store!  Please click on the images to check them out!

I did have a chance to get some R&R!  Hubby and I just got back from a week in beautiful Minocqua, Wisconsin.  Lots of fishing, boating, sun and fun!

Hi, Blogging Buddies! It's my favorite time of year! SUMMER!

Today I am liking up with Erica's Ed-Ventures to share my favorite end of the year gifts!

One of the best gifts for teachers are gift cards!    Target, Walmart, Starbucks, restaurants, movie theaters, book stores.... you name it!  You can never go wrong!

Another great idea is a book for the classroom library. I have often received a copy of a child's favorite book, with a sweet note written inside.

My ALL TIME FAVORITE gift  this year was this:

Yep, that's all I need.  A simple picture, framed with a sweet note.  (That is me, on the left, by the way!)  Yep, cried like a baby.....

What's your favorite end of the year gift?  Hop over to Eric's Ed-Ventures and share!

April Currently

It's not quite feeling like spring here.  But it's April.  I'll take it.  Warm weather has to be around the corner, right?

Since it's the beginning of April that means it is time for a new Currently!

Listening to:   Big Bang Theory!  It always makes me laugh! This episode is one of my top ten favorite episodes:

LOVING:  We have been focusing on non fiction writing.  My first graders LOVE it!

You can get a copy of the book my kiddos are working on HERE.

THINKING:  I am starting to see signs of spring!  So happy!  I walked out my front door this morning and my daffodils looked similar to this:

I can't wait until they open!

Then maybe it will get a litter warmer out....

WANTING:  a nap.  I'm not asking for much.  No. Can. Do.  Too much to do.

NEEDING:  to finish a project for my Writer's Workshop.  I got the idea from my friend, Liz.  I can't wait to share it with you.  Stay tuned.... I will tell you all about it soon!  I promise!

HOURS and LAST DAY:  Our Last Day is May 30.  The kids have a half day.  Sadly, we have to put in a whole day.  But, it does give the teachers an opportunity to get a few final things done before we leave for the summer!

The last day will be here before we know it!  Now the pressure is on to get things done!  YIKES!
Be sure to check out what other teachers are doing Currently.
