Five For Friday!

It has been a BUSY week in first grade!  I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to tell you all about it!

We have been working our very own nonfiction text!  My kiddos were so excited to learn about penguins!  We read a variety of texts and gathered information.  Then the kids worked in groups to write about what they learned!  This writing activity really helped us learn some of the text features of a nonfiction text! 

We created a title page and a table of contents.

Each child contributed one page about penguins.  They read their writing and highlighted important words in the text.

They worked together to write definitions for the important words in text.

My kiddos created leprechaun traps as an at home project.  Everyone shared their trap, explaining what materials they used, how it was made, and how it works.  We set our traps before we went home.  We are hoping to catch a leprechaun!

Five for Friday

It's Five for Friday time with Doodle Bugs Teaching!  I know it's really Sunday.... but I am having too much fun on my three day weekend!  Better late than never!

Here we go!

 

 We have been busy writing our goals for the new year!  My kiddos are doing a super job writing paragraphs with a lead in sentence, three details and a wrap up.

 

 

We used our JUICY adjectives to tell about what it would be like if we lived in a snow globe!

It was SNOW much fun!  (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

 

We also wrote about Winter.....

 

 

Too many days of indoor recess!  I need some new indoor recess ideas!  What do your kiddos do for indoor recess?

 

I am in LOVE with my Snow Leopard Blanket!  It was one of my favorite gifts!

 The blanket can be microwaved or chilled!  So Comfy!  It smells like lavender.  I can't begin to tell you how much I am using it this weekend!  Do you want a blanket like this?  You can get one HERE.

Oh, I forgot to mention the matching slippers!  (And yes they can be microwaved, too!)

Oh what a week!  I am so thankful that we only have school for two days next week!  I need some R&R!  A girl can dream, right?!?!?!?!  ;)

When I think Thanksgiving, I think PUMPKIN!  I love pumpkin anything!  I'm thinkin' this might have to be on my Thanksgiving menu this year!  It sounds YUMM-O!
