Today is the day my firsties celebrate Valentine's Day! They have been talking about it all week! Each child is decorating a special box for their Valentines. We will spend some time passing out Valentines and doing fun Valentine activities..... then it's P-A-R-T-Y TIME! I can't wait to see what my room mothers have planned!

My friend Liz used this idea in her classroom and I loved it!  After I saw how she used it, I knew it would help my firsties with the writing process!  My students move their “secret agent” numbers as they complete each step of the process.  

This can be displayed in a variety of ways:

-signs can be hung with ribbon

-attached to the wall or cabinet

-used with pocket charts

-placed on a white board

 You may attach the numbers to clothespins, magnets or use in a pocket chart.(I use small pocket charts that I found at Lakeshore.)  

This really helps me see exactly who is doing what during writer's workshop.  I look up at the board and know right away who is ready to meet with me for revisions, who is publishing and who is beginning a new writing piece!

This week is flying by!  I can't believe it's almost FRIDAY!  :)

Today, my Word Tic Tac Toe Homework is 20% off!

I use this weekly for my kids to practice word wall words.  Other teachers have told me that they use it as part of Words Their Way and Word Study.  My students absolutely LOVE it!  Each week there are 9 activities to choose from.  The kids choose any three activities on the board, going up and down, across or diagonally.

Sharing the Love Deal #4

Wow!  It's Day 4 of my Sharing the Love Deals!  Today's deal is my Mad Minute Pack.  It's something that I use with my firsties at least once a week!  You can get it today for 20% off!

This kit has everything you need to assess your students’ fluency with addition and subtraction facts.
I have included a variety of assessments which will allow you to differentiate to meet the needs of your students. My team uses these 1-2 times per week. All students begin with “Whole: 5 or less.” Once students master “The 5’s,” they move to the 6’s, etc. (Up to "Whole: 10 or less").

There are 3 versions of each level. I begin by having kiddos solve 15 problems in one minute.  Once they pass each level, I have them complete 30 problems at each level.  So, in a nutshell you are getting 6 assessments for each level:  sums to 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. 

Flashcards are included for students to practice math facts. These are great to use when there are a few extra minutes at the end of the day!

Grade book pages are included which can be used to monitor and track student progress.

This is a fun way to build fluency with CVC words! Each set includes a variety of  boards in which players simply roll a dice and read all the words on the list. Directions are included!

These are great for literacy centers, Daily 5, daily reading, fluency work, or during guided reading! My kiddos love playing the games independently or with a partner!
